Scott's 5th Birthday Party

Yesterday was Scott's birthday party at Peter Piper Pizza. It was probably the easiest party that I have done. All I did was call tell them the time and date and brought a few things. It was great! The kids had a lot of fun and the adults had fun talking and didn't have to really worry about the kids. Scott got a few presents from his friends and he loved the cake. Scott has been really into Ben 10 recently, it is a show on the cartoon network, and had asked for a Ben 10 cake. So my friend Rhonda said that she will make the cake and did an awesome job! Thanks Rhonda it was a yummy cake. Scott had a great time celebrating his 5th birthday. Thanks to all who came and shared in the celebration.

Tortilla Flat

Last Saturday my friend Rhonda and I took the kids for a short day trip. We headed out to Tortilla Flat. All I have to say about it is if you blink you will miss it, b/c it is a small strip of a couple buildings on the side of the road. (click on the name to see more info) It is a few miles out side of town. It was fun, they have a great little restuarant that makes some pretty tasty burgers. The inside of the restaurant it pretty much covered in dollar bills signed by people who have stopped in. We did sign a dollar bill but I forgot to take a picture. Along the way we stopped at a view point of Canyon Lake. It was a beautiful sight.

On our way back we stopped at another little sight seeing place called Goldfield Ghost Town. (click on the name for more info) This place was bigger with a couple restaurants, a merchant store, a museum and a train station. It was a lot more fun to look around. There was even an antique photography studio, that Rhonda and I would love to come back to take pictures at. It was a fun way to spend the morning and the kids loved it.

Weekend Events

This weekend was a very busy, but eventful one for Scott and I. With Matt out of town for a footy game in San Diego (that will be another post) I got to spent some quality time with my son. Friday started out with me getting a text from Rhonda, who was watching Scott until I got off of work, asking if I wanted to join her, Karen and the kids at the pool. Of course I accepted. We swam, more like the kids did while we visited. Then Karen had to go she was invited to TJ Grier's graduation party, so Rhonda and I hung out with Karen kids and ours. We ordered pizza and had ice cream for dessert while the kids watched the Barbie Nutcracker. Then came home and crashed out.

Saturday morning, Scott and I went grocery shopping, first to Fry's and then we headed out to the Ranch Market. Since my parents live out there we decided to first pop in and visit. We hung out for awhile, but then was time to go b/c they had errands to run and we still needed to finish our grocery shopping. We made our way over to the market, scored a great deal, again, and came home. When we got home we had some quiet time and I crashed out on the couched for about an hour. Then we had one more errand to run. We headed over to Walmart to get a few items, I bought a new swimsuit top, very cute. I try to post a picture later, Matt had the camera. Then I get a text from Rhonda asking if we wanted to join her and Kayla at the pool. What's funny is that Scott had been asking all day if were going to go swimming with Kayla. We enjoyed the cool water since it was a very HOT day!

As were swimming Rhonda had mentioned that she was going to take Kayla and her friend's son, Trey (sp?) to see the Race to Witch Mountain at the Tempe Cinema. I thought that would a fun way to spend an evening. It was a good movie and Scott sat through the entire thing. Good thing, I was worried that he would want to run around the theater.

Sunday was a lazy morning, waiting for 1pm to go to church. We went to church learned much and then afterwards headed over to my Grandma's house for dinner. It was a lot of fun. My grandma had invited, my brother and his wife, my cousin Ryan and his wife Susan, and my step-sister Sally and her husband, and we had special guests, the Missionaries. We enjoyed great food, Mexican, and fun company.

Now that I'm exhausted it's time to go back to work. ugh!

Husbands

For the past few days I've been reading a book called the Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands by Dr. Laura Schlessinger, it came highly recommended by my sister-in-law. Thanks Carree! As I started reading it at first I was shocked and then appalled by the way women actually act toward their husbands! I know that I haven't always put Matt first and I'll admit that, but some of these women are down right mean to their hubbies. It just makes me sad. What has this world come to? Apparently most women have been mean and disrespectful to their husbands pretty much since the feminist movement when activists fought for equality of women to men.

Just because you are married does not give you the right to push your husband aside and forget that he is human with needs and desires. Remember you chose to be married and to have a family and with that comes a husband. I'm writing this in hopes to enlight you and make you really think, are you treating your husband with the respect that he deserves as you husband and the head of your house. Being raised in the gospel I think that I have a better understanding of the role of a husband but there are times when I forget and a reminder is always good.

Since reading this book I've become more conscience of how I am treating Matt in hopes that he will notice my change of attitude and will reciprocate it back. You all know that saying, "If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy." I believe this is true when you are not happy with your life then the rest of the family suffers. If you can change your attitude about your life then you will see the difference in your family and in your husband and who knows, you might get some good rewards back. hehehe

So remember treat your husbands with the Respect and Love that they truly deserve to be your Life and Eternal Companions.
I encourage anyone who reads this blog to please post a comment. I like to hear what people think.
