Arrow of Light
Scott earned his Arrow of Light in Cub Scouts and crossed over into 11 year old scouts! This is a big achievement in Cub Scouts.
He and his den all earned it! We are very proud of him and the boys for accomplishing this step in the Cub Scout program.

Pinewood Derby 2014
This year Scott had a fun time making his pinewood derby car. He and Matt worked hard on it. All of that hard work definitely paid off!!
Scott place 1st for his Bear Den! Way to go Scott.
All of the boys did a really good job with their cars. They all worked hard and had a fun time seeing whose was the fastest!

Family Pictures 2013
This year taking family pictures was interesting. Summer was a bit of a nightmare, wanting to do her own thing! Seriously child, just sit still! haha
The end result was great, thanks to my amazing friend Amanda Shepard and her talent for making us look good!
What do you think?

Pinewood Derby
A couple of weeks ago it was our wards Pinewood Derby!
Scott and Matt and a fun time builing 'their' car along with the help of Papa, Matt's dad. Scott placed 2nd in his den and my nephew placed 1st for their den. Both boys were beaming as were their dads and papa. :)
It was a fun Saturday morning to be with friends and family. There was some competition with the other dens in our pack. There were some pretty good looking cars that went pretty fast down the tracks that's for sure.

Scott Funnies
I thought that I should start documenting some of the funny things that Scott says. The kid is seriously hilarious!
Just recently Matt went out of town to Houston for business and he usually brings home a little gift for Scott. This time he brought Scott a couple stuffed animals and left them on his bed. So we get home and this is what Scott has to say about it. "Look mom! Daddy brought me a dog and rat!" LOL The rat is actually an armadillo.
For the summer my MIL has agreed to watch Scott for us on Mondays. She had related a conversation that she had with him on Monday afternoon on their way to Chick-fil-a (sp?) for lunch.
Scott - "Grammy waht does R.U.E spell?"
Grammy - " It says Rue."
S - "What does Rue mean?"
G - "It means street in French."
S - "I wonder if my dad knows how to say street in Russian? Grammy do you know how to say street in Chinese?"
LOL We were all laughing after she told us that.

Scott's 7th Birthday Party
This year for Scott's birthday we celebrated with a pool party. At first I was a little hesitant to b/c the combination of a lot of kids and water made me a nervous. But I gave in and it was all good, no one got hurt. We had a BBQ with hamburgers and hot dogs. We had fun with a pinata. Over all the kids and the adults all had a good time. I can't believe that my little boy is 7! Where has the time gone.

Ode to the Elephant
About a week ago I came home from work and Scott runs down the stairs and with saddness in his says, "mommy I lost my elephant."
I looked at him in shock and said, "You lost him? Where?"
My mother-n-law was in the kitchen and she said that it was true. They were at Walmart doing a little shopping and he must've left him on a shelf. Matt and Scott went back to the aisle that Scott was in and it was gone! They even went back again. I even took Scott back that evening to see if someone had found him. I even called the next day in vain hoping that an employee had found him. But to our dismay he was never found. Such a sad day. That elephant was his beloved stuffed animal, just like a blanket is to some kids that is what his elephant was to him.
Please a moment of silence as we mourn the loss of a family member.
Here is a slideshow to remember our beloved elephant. (if you look closely in the pictures elephant isn't too far.)

Scott's Birthday Party
Today we had Scott's birthday party at Peter Piper Pizza, same as last year just at a different location. We invited old friends and some new friends. Of course the grandparents were invited. It was great to hang out and chat with everyone. The kids had a Blast! Scott made out like a bandit with the gifts! Thanks to everyone who came out, and it made it a special day for Scott. Enjoy the picture slideshow.

Happy 6th Birthday Scott!
6 years ago today I become a mother. I can't believe that it's been 6 years since Scott came into our family!! I can remember when he was still a baby, it only seems like yesterday. But now he is a little boy finishing up his first year of school. He is a smart and funny kid and shows his stubborn side more than I would like him to. :) We are glad that he is ours forever and wish him the best in life.

Spring Break: Colorado Trip
This year I was very lucky in getting the time off for Spring Break. With the help of my sister Scott and I were able to go visit her and her family in Colorado for Spring Break. We left early Friday morning, the 12th from 40 degree morning weather in AZ to 50 degree all day weather in Colorado. My sister lives in Parker which is nestled between the Colorado Rockies and the Plains. It was really neat to see the mountains so close covered in snow.
Honestly we just pretty much bummed around. Sunday and Monday Scott was sick and then Monday night I got sick but was feeling better by Wednesday.
I helped my sister organize 2 of her closets. We had a 20% off coupon to the Container Store, which is a really cool store! Below are the before pictures. To see the afters click on the the word 'after' below each picture which will take you to my sister's blog. On Sunday I was tasked to measure the closets. Since Scott was sick we didn't go to church so to keep myself busy, which was about 30 mins, I had measured the closets and had written down the info. The closets looked pretty good once we were done.
Sunday it was snowing and by Monday morning the grass and trees were sprinkled with that white stuff. Then for the next 3 days it was clear and sunny in the 60's, but by Friday it was cold and snowing all day long. We tried to make it up to Denver to the museums but got stuck on the freeway because of mulitple accidents, so we decided to get off and found a local Library to cozy up in for a little bit before heading back to my sisters.
While I was there I was able to reconnect with an old friend from junior high. She came over monday for a little while to chat before her midterm. Then on Tuesday she and I went shopping and out to lunch. It was like we had never been apart for the last 11 years, give or take. Then wed my sister and I went to get a free makeover at the new Utla store that just opened up, where my friend works. It was fun to have some girl time and try new products. Sarah I'm sold, I'm totally buying the Bare Minerals makeup!!
Sorry that this isn't more exciting but like I mentioned earlier we pretty much bummed around and I was sick on top of that. I did take pictures and will post them soon.

Reading!
Today at work my supervisor brought in books that her kids had out grown so that we could rumage through them before she shipped them off to Goodwill. I picked out 3 books for Scott and one of them is this book.

This is one of my favorite Dr Seuss books. I put them on Scott's bed. I had told him that I brought home something for him and that it was up in room. A few mins later Scott is running down the stairs saying "You got this for me mommy?" He came to me and started to read it to me. I'm very impressed with the fact that he reading the entire book to me! What a smart little boy! These last few weeks at school his teacher has sent him home with 10 sight words to memorize and to pass off and this book has a lot of sight words and he is very excited that he knows them!

Look Mom!
Yesterday afternoon Scott comes running down stairs and excitedly says "I lost my tooth!" My baby has lost his first tooth. I can't believe that we are now entering the stage of loosing teeth. It's kinda weird to think of it.
So this morning when he woke up I asked what did the toothfairy bring you. He just shrugged his shoulder and so I told him to check under his pillow where he put his tooth. He lifted up the pillow and the expression on his face was priceless. He threw the pillow off the bed and said that he tooth was gone and he got some money. It wasn't much b/c the toothfairy is on a budget this year. Nonetheless he was excited with his 50 cents. So today we told him that he gets to pay tithing on it and he was really excited to give his tithing to the bishop.

Total Slacker
Sorry I haven't posted anything new in awhile. Not much is happening right now. Scott loves school and is ready to tell me all about it when I get home from work. When something new comes up I will post it. But for now you have to endure a very boring post from me.

Flashback: Scott and Friend
This picture was taken last 4th of July. Scott was fascinated by my friend Joyce's new baby girl Charlotte. But in this picture it looks like she is more fascinated with him than he is of her.

Scott's 5th Birthday Party
Yesterday was Scott's birthday party at Peter Piper Pizza. It was probably the easiest party that I have done. All I did was call tell them the time and date and brought a few things. It was great! The kids had a lot of fun and the adults had fun talking and didn't have to really worry about the kids. Scott got a few presents from his friends and he loved the cake. Scott has been really into Ben 10 recently, it is a show on the cartoon network, and had asked for a Ben 10 cake. So my friend Rhonda said that she will make the cake and did an awesome job! Thanks Rhonda it was a yummy cake. Scott had a great time celebrating his 5th birthday. Thanks to all who came and shared in the celebration.

I Love Jesus
For Easter I bought Scott a small packet of pictures of Jesus to help him understand that Easter isn't just about the candy, eggs and gifts but that Easter is about the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. So last night as I was helping him get ready for bed I saw this on his wall.
First I asked him where he found the tape and he said in the drawer by my purse. Okay, fine. Then I asked why he hung up the pictures. He said "Because I love Jesus." How precious is that. He knows who Jesus is and loves him. I can see that his testimony is growing, and that makes me proud to be his mother and that I'm teaching him well.
